America III sailing boat, replica of the 1992 America's Cup winner

This decorative sailing boat is a replica of America III, the yacht that won the America's Cup in 1992. You choose between three sizes, with a compact model for a bookshelf up to a large piece for a long cabinet.

Dimensions

• Small: 31 x 37 cm
• Medium: 46 x 68 cm
• Large: 60 x 110 cm

The ship behind the model

The programme behind America III was run by Bill Koch and Harry "Buddy" Melges. The yacht itself was built in Rhode Island, and the carbon fibre mast package came out of Michigan. With this model you bring a piece of sailing history home.

Which size

The small one of 31 x 37 cm fits on a desk or between books on a shelf. The medium of 46 x 68 cm needs a place of its own on a console or sideboard. The large of 60 x 110 cm is an eye-catcher for a long cabinet, a hall piece or a windowsill with enough space. Measure beforehand how much room you have, both in width and in height.

Where it goes

Put the model against a calm background, because the fine lines of mast and sails disappear against a busy wall. In an interior with a maritime theme it is a logical choice, but in a sleek, modern space too it stands out as a freestanding object. It is also a nice gift for anyone who loves sailing.

Styling

Combine with natural wood, linen, blue or white accents and books about the sea. A small lamp next to it shows the model off nicely in the evening.

Care

Dust with a soft brush or feather duster, working downwards. Do not get the model wet. Lift it by the hull and not by the mast or the sails.
