Where it hangs

At 100 x 150 cm, this is a work that carries a wall. Above a sofa or a sideboard, or on a free wall where you can step back away. In a narrow corridor a canvas of this size does not come into its own, because you can never stand far enough away.

Combining

A large painted work asks for calm around it. Hang it alone and not in a group. Soft pastel tones work well against a white or off-white wall; against a dark wall the work loses its lightness. The wooden frame goes nicely with furniture in wood and with natural materials such as linen and rattan.

Hanging

A large canvas hangs best with the middle of the image at about 145 centimetres above the floor, which is the average eye level. Above a sofa or a sideboard you hang lower: allow fifteen to twenty centimetres between the top of the furniture and the bottom of the frame, so that the two read as a whole instead of as two separate things. For a work of this size, use sturdy fixings that suit your wall.

Care

Dust with a soft, dry cloth or a feather duster. Never use water or cleaning product on painted canvas. Do not hang the work in direct sunlight or above a radiator, because both can make the paint change colour and dry out over time.

Collection

This painting is not shipped and can only be collected in the shop, during opening hours.
