Oval gold mirror in mango wood with copper fittings, 76 x 151 cm

An oval gold mirror one and a half metres high, with a frame in mango wood that is fitted with copper. The copper gives the frame a warm, golden gleam that catches the light in the room.

Material and finish

Mango wood as the base, copper as the fitting. Copper is a living metal and can develop a darker patina over the years. If you like that, let it happen; if you prefer to keep the gleam, feel free to ask Camille which care suits this finish.

Where it hangs

Above a console or a sideboard. In a hall, where the oval shape breaks the straight lines of doors and frames. Or in a bedroom, where the height is enough to see yourself head to hip. An oval works better than a rectangle in a space with a lot of corners, precisely because it does not follow them.

Combining

Copper and warm wood belong together, so in an interior with oak, teak or mango this mirror falls into place by itself. Against a cool grey or white interior, it works as the warm accent such a space is missing.

Care

Wipe the glass with glass cleaner on the cloth, never directly on the mirror. Dust the copper dry with a soft cloth. Do not use abrasive on the fittings.

How copper ages

Copper reacts to air and to the oils on your hands. As a result, the fitting can change shade over time, with lighter spots where it is often touched. That is patina and not wear. How fast that happens depends on the finish and on the room the mirror hangs in; if you let the process run its course, after a few years you get a mirror with a warm, lived-in look.
