Why the relief makes the difference

A flat print is recognised at once up close. Thanks to the relief, the surface catches the light and the image gains depth, even when you look at it at close range at the table. At a distance you see the whole, up close the texture.

Where it comes into its own

The subject asks for a place where people eat and raise a glass: above the dining table, above a sideboard or in a kitchen-diner. In a modern interior it works as a statement piece that brings warmth between clean lines and calm colours.

As a guideline, hang the middle of a painting at about 150 cm above the floor. Above a piece of furniture, leave 20 to 25 cm between the top of the furniture and the bottom edge of the frame, so that the two belong together.

Combining

Natural materials such as wood, reed and linen go well with the wooden frame. Ideally keep the wall around the painting calm, so that it can be the eye-catcher without competing with other wall decoration. A few candles or a vase of fresh flowers on the table below complete the picture.

Care

Dust the painting with a dry, soft cloth or a feather duster. Do not use water or cleaning products on the image. Preferably do not hang it in strong, direct sunlight or right above a hob, because grease and steam settle in the relief.
