Lobster wall decoration with embedded mirror, 38 x 20 cm

A wall decoration in the shape of a lobster, with a mirror embedded in the design. It is a decorative object and a small mirror at once: the lobster gives the shape, the mirror catches the light and reflects a small part of the room.

Why a lobster on the wall works

On the coast maritime decoration is an obvious choice, and that is exactly why it often goes wrong: nets, anchors, blue and white striped plates. A lobster with a mirror is not a beach souvenir but an object with a wink to the sea. That way it refers to the water without the room being pushed into a theme.

Where it hangs

In a dining room or kitchen, where the subject is in its place. In a corridor or toilet, where a small but bold piece does more than a large, flat one. At 38 by 20 cm it is compact enough for a narrow wall next to a door, above a small cabinet or in a niche. Hang it at eye level, so the mirror really reflects something.

Styling

The lobster works alone, but also in a small group with other wall decoration. Use it as the centre then and hang other pieces around it at uneven heights, with uneven gaps. A strict row quickly reads like a shop display. Other sea creatures on the wall, such as the crab with small mirrors, suit the same mood, as do natural materials such as rattan, wood and linen.

Hanging and care

Hang it with a nail or hook that suits your wall. Dust it with a soft, dry brush or cloth, also in the small nooks of the shape. Clean the mirror with a slightly damp cloth. Never spray cleaning product directly onto the piece, because it can creep under the edge.
