Egg chair in teddy and leather, 360 degree swivel

An egg chair: a lounge armchair whose egg-shaped shell envelops you. The shape was first presented in 1958 and has never gone out of the interior since. The reason is simple: a curved shell supports your back, your shoulders and your head at once, and it shuts you off against the room without taking you out of it.

Material and finish

This egg chair is made in leather and sheepskin, which gives it a soft teddy look. The shell rests on a cross-shaped base of steel and aluminium, which carries the weight and lets the chair swivel freely through 360 degrees.

Where it stands

At 116 cm high, this is an armchair you see standing, even across the room. That makes it suited as a freestanding piece in a reading corner or by a window, and less suited to being put in a row against a wall. It swivels fully, so allow for free space around it.

Seating comfort

The high back continues above your head, which means you can lean back in it comfortably without missing a headrest. The shell shape holds warmth; in winter that is pleasant, in summer you notice it.

Care

Wipe the leather with a dry or slightly damp cloth and do not put the chair right in the sun or against a radiator. Brush the sheepskin up carefully now and then. Feel free to ask Camille about the best care.

We deliver large furniture free of charge in West Flanders; beyond that we only charge the fuel costs. Free collection in the shop is possible too.

Where the shape originates

The egg-shaped shell on a cross base is a design language that has lasted since the late fifties, and that is no coincidence. A shell that curves around you gives you the feeling of sitting in a corner of your own, even in the middle of a busy room. That is why the shape has never gone out of fashion.
