The pattern

Ecru and brown together give a natural palette that never shouts. The weave makes it more than a plain block: the light falls differently on the various yarns, so the pouffe looks different by day than in the evening under lamplight.

Where it stands

At 45 centimetres high, it sits at about the height of an ordinary chair, so as an extra seat for a visitor it works at once. By an armchair, you put your feet up on it. In a bedroom it can stand at the foot of the bed or, with a tray on top, serve as a bedside table.

Combining

The natural shades suit a modern interior with clean lines just as well as a country house with wood and linen. Beside a dark sofa the ecru gives contrast; beside a light sofa it blends in quietly. A throw in a warm brown shade next to it completes the whole.

Care

Vacuum the pouffe regularly with a soft nozzle, so that dust does not settle into the weave. For a stain, dab with a dry or slightly damp cloth, without rubbing. Do not put it in strong sunlight, because natural shades fade faster there.

Two woollen pouffes
