Sheepskin rug, white and brown

A sheepskin with a mixed pattern in white and brown. The same kind of skin as the plain brown one, but with an irregular distribution of light and dark that turns out different on every piece. Soft to sit on and big enough to use as a small rug.

Why the pattern matters

With a plain skin you choose on shade. With a mixed one you choose on pattern, and that is a different consideration. Some skins have a clear division between white and brown, others blend gradually into each other. On a dark chair a skin with a lot of white stands out more; on a light sofa a piece with more brown works better. That is why we send you all of our skins with every purchase, so that you can choose your favourite yourself.

Where it lies

Over the arm or the seat of an armchair, over a stool or small bench, at the foot of a bed, or loose on the floor next to the sofa. On tiles or parquet it can slide; a non-slip mat underneath solves that.

Care

Shaking it out is the most important action and does most of the work. You may vacuum with a soft brush head on a low setting, in the direction of the hair. Not in the washing machine, not in the tumble dryer, and not dried on a radiator: the leather side can shrink and harden. Dab stains straight away with a slightly damp cloth and leave to dry in the air. Direct sunlight makes the brown fade, so the contrast with the white lessens over time.

With a mixed skin, the division between white and brown rarely runs straight. That means the skin looks lighter seen on one side than on the other. Turn it round once before you decide how to lay it; which side faces the room makes more difference than the spot itself.
